Why are my slates slipping?
It is usually the fixings. Old nails corrode and let the slates go one by one, a problem often called nail sickness. Re-fixing or re-laying the affected area puts it right.
Is fibre-cement slate a good option?
Yes. It is lighter and more affordable than natural slate, keeps a consistent appearance and suits many homes. Natural slate remains the premium choice where the property calls for it.
Can you match slate on a period property?
Often, yes. We look for reclaimed and new slate that matches the size and colour, which matters on older and conservation-area homes, and explain the closest suitable option.
Repair or re-lay for a few slipped slates?
