EPDM rubber goes down as a single sheet, so on most domestic roofs there are no joints across the field of the roof to leak. It stays flexible in the cold, copes with sunlight and needs very little looking after, which makes it a reliable choice for a garage, extension or dormer.
We strip the old covering, prepare the deck and bond the membrane down before sealing the edges, upstands and outlet carefully, since that is where a flat roof is won or lost. We explain the build-up and the upkeep so you know what to expect.

How long does an EPDM roof last?
A well-fitted rubber roof can be expected to last for decades with very little maintenance, which is why it is such a popular choice. We confirm the expected life in your quotation.
Can you walk on a rubber roof?
For occasional access, yes. For a roof in regular use, or a balcony, a fibreglass covering with a harder-wearing surface is often the better choice, and we explain the options.
Can EPDM go over my existing flat roof?
Sometimes, if the deck below is sound and dry. More often it is better value to strip the old covering so we can check and correct the deck first.
What colour is a rubber roof?
EPDM is normally black, with grey and coloured trims available. On most flat roofs it is not seen from the ground in any case.
What affects the cost?
The area and shape of the roof, the state of the deck and the number of upstands, trims and outlets all play a part. We set out the price in writing before booking.
